The Nakba in Photos

On May 15, 2007, Palestinians worldwide will mark the 59th anniversary of the Nakba (Catastrophe). On this occasion, the IMEU presents these photos of both historical and current images of Palestinian refugees.

Isn't it ironic that, after all the pograms and persecution Jews endured in Europe, Israel is doing the same to the Palestinians?

For a very interesting analysis of this sort of thing, check out Power-Under: Trauma and Nonviolent Social Change - the whole thing is available for free online. It sent chills up and down my spine when I read it because it resonated so strongly with me. I have a deep and personal interest in trauma and have done quite a bit of reading on it, and the connections made here between the social and political aspects of trauma is fascinating.
